In Kats, at Kingfish Zeeland, a unique fish farm has been built for the Yellowtail Kingfish, a replacement for endangered tuna species. This Dutch aquaculture project has the capacity to breed 1000 tons of fish, with the Kingfish reaching a weight of up to 2 kilograms. Sustainability and quality were the guiding principles for the farm. This resulted in a saltwater fish species farmed without antibiotics or chemical treatments, using organic feed with certified fishmeal ingredients, and using green energy. Fresh seawater from the Oosterschelde is refreshed daily and heated to the correct temperature.
Köster Afdichtingssystemen had the concrete surface treated with Köster NB 1, suitable for use in drinking water. All penetrations were finished with Köster Repairmortar and Köster MS Flex.
